Does tanning lotion expire?
The average shelf life of an unopened bottle of tanning lotion is roughly one to two years. Once a bottle of tanning lotion has been opened its contents have been exposed to the elements and the longevity of the lotion can differ immensely from that of the shelf life. Many different factors can effect the potency of a tanning lotion such as extreme hot and cold temperatures and extended exposure to air. To avoid these hazards remember to firmly secure your lotions lid/cap after every use and to always store your lotion in a cool dark place when it is not being used. All tanning lotion will eventually expire but you can extend the life of your lotion with proper care.

What is an SPF?
SPF is the acronym for "sun protection factor" in sunscreen lotions. This number is determined by a laboratory that test the effectiveness of the lotion to protect the skin from the sun's UV-B rays. The more protection the lotion offers, the higher the "SPF" number is. UV-B rays are the cause of sunburn and sunscreen should always be considered when spending long periods of time in the sun.
